- Won both the 125 and 250 classes at the 1980 Copa de Cuba motocross races in Villa Clara, Cuba. The event is Cuba's premier event and determines the country's National Champion. Serrano won the Championship defeating large fields of riders from the Soviet Union, Canada, Belgium, and Central America. Serrano also broke defending 250 World Champion George Jobe's lap record by three full seconds.
- First overall in the multi-race 1980 Bosch Arizona State Championship Motocross series.
- Competed in the 1980 Gran Premio de Amistad, which is Mexico's biggest motocross race. The event, held in Saltillo and attended by over 50,000 spectators, saw many riders from the united States such as seven time National Champion Rick Johnson, Billy Grossi, multi-time National Champion Tony Distefano, and Steve Stackable competing. Serrano won every race he entered and absolutely dominated both the 250 and 500 classes.
- Finished third overall in the 1986 Whiskey Pete's World Championship Hare and Hound Motorcycle Race held in Nevada. The Whiskey Pete's event is universally recognized as the single most gruelling professional off-road motorcycle event. It is the one event that brings together all of the best riders in the united States. Serrano is the only rider to have finished in the top five overall in each of the first three years that the event was run (5th in 1985 and 4th in 1984).
- Competed in the Coppa Mille Dolari Series in 1988, 1986, 1985, 1984, 1983, 1982, and 1981. The Coppa Mille Dolari series is Italy's major professional motocross series of the year and draws tremendous factory support and entries from many past and current world motocross champions. Carlos competed on a factory sponsored KTM motorcycle in 1986 and 1988 and on a factory Beta Motorcycle in 1982.
- 1984, 1980 and 1979 Continental Moto Sport Club (CMC) Number One plate holder for Arizona. This is awarded to the best overall motocross rider in the entire State for the year.

- Based on his excellent performances throughout the course of 1981, Serrano was selected as a member of Team M. Robert which competed in a number of international races in Europe during the summer months. M. Robert is a major motorcycle clothing and safety equipment manufacturer selling worldwide. Serrano finished sixth overall in the Coppa Mille Dolari series in Italy. He won the first moto and finished second in the next moto in the final event at Esanatoglia in front of 30,000 spectators. In so doing, he defeated a number of factory supported, veteran European riders on works bikes. Serrano was also the fastest qualifier in the first two races of the series in spite of competing on a stock motorcycle.
